Pearl of Great Price

  (Matthew 13:45-46)

The pearl of great price presents some valuable lessons. We need to be seeking what is valuable. We need to be willing to pay for it when we find it. Obviously, we are not talking about earthly riches. The Kingdom is the most valuable thing on earth. We need to wake up and realize that all the shiny pretty little things around us are but tin cans compared to eternal life with God. We need to be willing to give up these earthly trinkets. Pearls and treasure peak our interest. Even those images in these parables do not do justice to what awaits God’s children. Will you sell it all for it? You need to.

Your Structure

“But  I  discipline  my  body and bring it into subjection, lest, when  I  have preached to others,  I myself  should become disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:27). It would be best if you worked on creating in your mind mental structures for success. A study was done where  two basketball teams had to shoot free throws. One group went out and shot 100 free throws with something life 30% accuracy. The second group had sat for 30 minutes and visualized making a perfect free throw 100 times. That team went out and shot 100 free throws with 75% accuracy. What is the difference? The mental structure. You can do the same. Paul said, “I discipline my body, I seek to please God.” Just like Paul, we must get in our heads what we will do to be successful in Christ. Work to create Godly mental structures.                          ...

Pride Less Love

Love is not a prideful thing. Love is only sustained through humility. You must be willing to serve and sacrifice for others to love appropriately. The world, full of pride, does not do that (1 John 2:16). When we love the world, we fill ourselves with such pride that humility leaves us, therefore loving is nonexistent in our lives. The Lord hears the humble and answers the humble (Psalmist 10:17). Jesus, who is love, exemplifies true humble love in His life, death, and resurrection (Philippians 2:6-8). Only when we humble ourselves can we love and serve the way God wants us to. When we humbly love, seen in our service, God exalts us (Luke 23:10-12). Only the humble will love the Lord enough to keep His commands and become His bondservant (1 John 5:2; Galatians 1:10). If we are to have and show the love that God so desires, we have to be humble enough to serve, live like Christ, become a bondservant of God’s and walk away from the world. Love has no room for p...

Pure As Snow

The Snow                Here in Northern Alabama we received 8 inches of snow over the last 24 hours. What a winter land we have today. One of the awesome things about snow that many don’t know is it’s a purifier. Snows has the ability to clean impurities out of the environment. When it melts it slowly deposits them into the earth to further rid the environment of those impurities and provide much needed nutrients. Not to mention the slow melting process supply’s the earth with water much more efficiently than rain. The Blood                This snow brings to mind the cleansing process of baptism that we read about in 1 Pet. 3:21. The blood of Christ does to our lives what snow does for our environment ( Rev. 1:5 ). Although some may say it’s foolishness others say it’s the power of God ( 1 Cor. 1:18 ). Just how many feel about sn...
