Hot Topic

The hot topic here lately is woman's roles in the church. I know that can be an argumentative issue for many Christians. I would say the pursuit of broadening woman's roles in the church is not the issue. Just like sin is not the issue in our lives. It goes much deeper for sin is a product of our own evil desires (James 1:12-15). The evil desires is the issue. We use it to fulfil things that we don't want God to fill or don't think God can fill. With this topic of woman's roles in the church the issues is much deeper. The issue is lack of bible knowledge (1 Cor. 15:33-34). Knowing the truth is where freedom is. Abiding in His word is how we are His disciples (John 8:31-32).  Not binding yourself by His word means you can do what you want. It wont glorify God but hey you got what you wanted. I know that is a rough way to say that but it’s true. We may not outright admit to such a line of thinking but we show it in our actions, our faith, our worship, and our lives.

I ran across a question the other day it read like this, "In your view, what is the biggest challenge facing the church today? ".  This one question began to make me think of all the outlandish schemes and activities that are being done in the name of the Lord. It made me ask,Why? Why are so many pushing the limits? What are they thinking? Have they forgotten the word? Yes. Many have forgotten that it is inspired by God (2 Tim. 3:16-17). So what is that challenge?

The answer to that is lack of bible knowledge. The lack of bible knowledge is the biggest challenge for us today (1 Cor. 15:33-34). God desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of truth (1 Tim. 2:4). We should abound in it (2 Cor. 8:7; Phil. 1:9-11). The word is to be dwelling in us richly in all wisdom (Col. 3:16-17). We are to be filled with it and increasing in it (Col. 1:9-12). We are  renewed by that knowledge (Col. 3:9-11). It is to be added to our faith (2 Pet. 1:5-9). We are not to become barren and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Yet, are we? Are you? Are all those above statements true for the church as a whole? Is it true for you?

It is very hard not to see that we need someone to teach us again the first principles of the oracles of God, we need milk not solid food (Heb. 5:12). I say that only because of all the things that are going on. Everything that we need to know that pertains to life and godliness is in that knowledge (2 Pet. 1:2-4). That knowledge is how we escape the pollution of the world (2 Pet. 2:20). We are to grow in it (2 Pet. 3:17-18).

Are we failing to be devoted to study and deliver strong biblical classes and sermons? Are we relinquishing the word for the sake of pleasing man with profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge (1 Tim. 6:20-21)?
Are we doing the one thing wrong that separates us from the world? Do you know how to walk as He walked (1 John 2:3-6)? Can you show Him love by keeping His commandments (1 John 5:3)?

If not, we will get the same result as every one else. A non biblical worship, church, life and Christianity. Which would mean that its not worship to our God, or the church of Christ, or the new life we have, and or true Christianity(John 4:23-24; Rm. 16:16; Rm. 6:1-4; Acts 11:26, 19, 8:1-4, 2:40-47; Matt. 28:18-20; 2 Tim. 3:16-17). So what is it? you tell me. All I know is, it is not in the word nor is it commanded by God. So I have no idea who or what all that worship etc. is for or to.

We can’t give up studying and teaching the word. Strong bible knowledge only increases our faith and obedience to Him. It’s His words and the early church continued steadfastly in it. The early church was added to daily by the Lord (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:14-18; Luke 24: 44-49; John 20:30-31& 21:24-25; Acts 1, 2 & 2:40-42; Acts 2:47). By His word we have obedient faith (Rm. 10:17; Heb. 11:1-2,6,8). With out it we are lost.

     Do you know the word?

   Are you studying the word?

Are you growing in your knowledge of it?

Does it dwell richly in you?

Are you abounding in it still more and more everyday?

What needs to change?

How can you get there?

How can you abound in it?

My Thoughts

Think on what is lovely. Let God direct your mind to what is truly lovely in this world. At the very least that tree, flower, and blade of grass that He made and you saw today is lovely. Let Him influence your thoughts every day until you think on what God considers lovely. Then dwell on those things. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. (Col. 3:16) There will be an overflow of lovely thoughts pour from your mind. Think about how encouraging to others that would be. Think lovely thoughts.

The Quiet Work

“For even the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).      We often think that to do big things; then earth-shattering events need to be taking place around us. The Good Samaritan did a big thing, and there was not even a mention of an earthquake. Sometimes the road to success and greatness is filled with little things done right. It’s a road where every brick was placed with care, love, and service. We pursue excellence in everything that we do. We want to be great in the kingdom of God. Everyone does. Jesus says to achieve this we need to be a servant. A servant is a quiet, hardworking, and devoted person. They don’t make waves in the ocean. However, they make constant ripples in the pond. The reason for this being as servants of God, we serve everyone, everywhere, every time. That means we quietly serve everyone, even the unserviceable, undeserving, uncaring, and undesirable. No, it doesn’t bring down buildings and ch

It's A Location Problem

Two men were walking down a street on opposite sides. It began to rain. It only rained on one side of the road. At the next crosswalk, the man who had walked in the rain looked at the other and said, "How are you dry?" he replied with this one word, "Location." We need to understand that location plays a huge role in a lot of things in our lives. Everything from our character to our mental stability is effect by our location. It would make complete sense that where our heart was located would determine how we live. Our treasure is where our heart is. Meaning that what you will live for, work for, die for, and yearn for whatever our heart is set on. As Christians, our hearts should be in God. If it is, the perfect law of liberty becomes the greatest blessing in the world. It turns from a daunting list of dos and don'ts to a beautiful guide to greatness. It's all about where your heart is. Then that leaves us with this question, "Where is your he
