The Little Things

The little things in life make all the difference.  Sometimes little words of encouragement make you feel like you can climb mountains.  The little habits in life can determine whether we are successful or we fail.  As Christians those little things or those little habits make all the difference.

Paul says pray continually (I Thess. 5:17).  We know that we should not forsake the assembly (Heb. 10:25).  We know we need to study the scriptures daily (Acts 17:11; Col. 3:16).  We understand that we should steadfastly serve God daily (Heb. 3:14).  Those things seem very simple but they have a huge impact on our life.  Those simple things mold us and grow us into becoming stronger and better Christians (I Thess. 5:16-22).

Now there are things that we should not do (I Cor. 15:33).  Things like forsaking the assembly can be damaging to our spiritual lives.  We must be careful that the habits of the world do not enter into our lives.  Habits are simply formed when we repeatedly do something to the point that our brain automatically makes connections.  Should we be concerned that every time we sit down at home we turn on the TV?  Should we be concerned that every morning we wake up we for sale a time of prayer and a time of study?  It is those little things in life which determine whether or not we are successful in Christ or we fail.

We need to be aware of the little things in our lives.  Let us let every one of the little things be about God.  From everything to spending time with God in prayer to using a trip to the water fountain to set up a Bible study.  We need to make our drives to work a time of reflection and perhaps a time of prayer.  The little things in life, when they are governed by God, will change us and mold us more than we can imagine.  The little things are very important.

Focus on the little things.

Your Structure

“But  I  discipline  my  body and bring it into subjection, lest, when  I  have preached to others,  I myself  should become disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:27). It would be best if you worked on creating in your mind mental structures for success. A study was done where  two basketball teams had to shoot free throws. One group went out and shot 100 free throws with something life 30% accuracy. The second group had sat for 30 minutes and visualized making a perfect free throw 100 times. That team went out and shot 100 free throws with 75% accuracy. What is the difference? The mental structure. You can do the same. Paul said, “I discipline my body, I seek to please God.” Just like Paul, we must get in our heads what we will do to be successful in Christ. Work to create Godly mental structures.                          ...

Pride Less Love

Love is not a prideful thing. Love is only sustained through humility. You must be willing to serve and sacrifice for others to love appropriately. The world, full of pride, does not do that (1 John 2:16). When we love the world, we fill ourselves with such pride that humility leaves us, therefore loving is nonexistent in our lives. The Lord hears the humble and answers the humble (Psalmist 10:17). Jesus, who is love, exemplifies true humble love in His life, death, and resurrection (Philippians 2:6-8). Only when we humble ourselves can we love and serve the way God wants us to. When we humbly love, seen in our service, God exalts us (Luke 23:10-12). Only the humble will love the Lord enough to keep His commands and become His bondservant (1 John 5:2; Galatians 1:10). If we are to have and show the love that God so desires, we have to be humble enough to serve, live like Christ, become a bondservant of God’s and walk away from the world. Love has no room for p...

Entertaining Angels

“distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.”      Romans 12:13         We are stewards of God. We need to distribute what God blessed us with. We need to do it especially for the saints that are in need.  Don’t wait to be asked, seek opportunities to be hospitable.       A great distinction of Christianity is our concern for the needy. No man is truly genuine in his walk who does not exhibit that quality of character ( James 1:27 ).  We need to seek to be hospitable to strangers ( 1 Tim. 5:10 ) .         By being hospitable to strangers some have entertained angels ( Heb. 13:2 ). That could be reference to Abraham and Lot ( Gen. 18:1; Gen. 19:1 ). Not that that should be a reason for our hospitality but it should provoke an understanding of watchfulness in hospitality.  Although many may go away served giving back nothing more than a thank you, there are some ...
